Award-Winning Norcross Art Festival is the show with Personality
Norcross (December 1, 2011) – Historic Norcross will be hopping with creative artwork and whimsical displays as more than 170 local and national artists line the charming streets at the ninth annual, invitation-only ART FEST October 6 and 7, 2012. TThe show will open Saturday, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Sunday, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. “Norcross Art Fest is always the fun festival with the colorful personality,” says Frances Schube, Art Fest Co-producer. We have invited the most talented and entertaining artists from around the country in painting, folk art, photography, pottery, jewelry, metalworking and so much more. That means, there’s something for everyone, and the result is the best two-day art event in Gwinnett County.
Art Fest 2011 has recently been given the “Event of The Year” award by the Gwinnett Convention and Visitors Bureau. Inside Gwinnett Magazine also named Norcross Art Fest the “Best Festival” by its readers for both 2010 and 2011. Schube, along with her partner, Cindy Flynn of Splash Festivals, also produce the successful Dunwoody Art Festival held on Mother’s Day weekend in the heart of Dunwoody. They will be adding Acworth Art Fest next April 14 and 15, which will be held in the charming downtown district of Acworth in Cobb County.
Norcross Art Fest draws crowds of 50,000 to 60,000 annually and will feature continuous jazz, bluegrass and live entertainment on the Thrasher Park stage – always a popular feature of Art Fest. The hopping Kidz Zone, also in the Park, returns with the lively art pavilion where young artists of all ages can enjoy free arts and crafts projects. A silent auction filled with decorated chairs and surprises by local school students will be waiting for the highest bidders at the renowned “Chairs for Charity”, managed by the Norcross Arts Alliance. The Food Court on Buchanan Street is always a favorite among hungry shoppers looking for a quick break before venturing back to the artist market. Local Historic Norcross boutiques, shops and restaurants will also be open during the event to welcome visitors and neighbors.
Proceeds go to the Norcross Lions Club to be distributed to their wonderful charities. Parking and shuttle service are free. For more information, check out NorcrossArtFest.com and keep up with the latest updates at Norcross Art Fest on Facebook.
